Funny Story

In my preschool class we have been discussing the Jews during the time that the story of Chanukah took place. We have been discussing this for the past week and will continue to talk about it every day so that the students will know the story by the time Chanukah arrives. Each week we will discuss a different aspect of the holiday. This week we talked all about the dreidel. We learned that the Greeks didn't let the Jews learn Torah.... (I'm sure you all know the rest of the story). Bottom line the reason we play dreidel today is because the Jews had to hide their Torah and take out dreidels and pretend to play.
Today during circle time I was reviewing the story and I asked my students, "So who remembers who were the people that were very not nice to the Jews?" I did not think I would get a response being that my students are really little and some are not even talking, for them to remember the name 'Greeks', something they have never heard of before was not something I expected of them but figured I'd test their intelligence and throw the question out there.
Ryan, a really smart little 3 year old is sitting in the circle and I see him thinking, like he knows the answer. All of a sudden he screams out, "Morah Chany, I know it's the GEEKS!"

Chanchy's Sis. wedding

The 3 peppers.....

The garage light was out on a dark Friday night. The guests were scheduled to arrive in half hours time. The salads were complete – all except for the red pepper strips. I search the refrigerator & realize that all the peppers are in the refrigerator outside – in the garage. I go outside to blindly search for the peppers.
"I can feel for a pepper but it will be difficult to feel for the color." I announce on my way into the garage. "I guess I'll have to bring in one of each color." I say jokingly.
In the pitch black garage I open the refrigerator door. I open the vegetable drawer and feel for a pepper. "Ok, let me feel for colors here." I say to the girl standing next to me. "This one is red, this must be orange, & this is definitely a green one." Laughing at my magical pepper color guessing I walk back into the house holding the 3 peppers in my hand, hoping that one of them would actually be red.
I open the door and as soon as I enter the room and can see again I look down into my hands to see the 3 peppers that I was holding.
To my amazement I was holding, one red pepper, one orange pepper & one green pepper.
The lesson we can learn from this… I have not yet thought of one. What can we learn from a pepper? Just thought it was kind of cool!
